What is Skillarq, in one sentence?
Skillarq is a private career database that turns your past resumes and CVs into one rich profile, scores how well you fit any job posting, and generates a tailored resume in seconds.
How does the job matching work?
When you paste a job description, an AI model reads it and compares the requirements against your career database: roles, achievements, skills, education, and certifications. It produces a fit score, a list of skills that match (with the role that backs them up), and a list of gaps you may want to address.
What costs a credit?
One credit is spent every time you generate a tailored resume. Everything else is free, forever:
- Uploading and parsing resumes or CVs
- Editing your experience, skills, education, and certifications
- Pasting a job posting and getting your fit score, matched skills, and gaps
- The profile assessment on the dashboard
Do credits expire?
No. Any credits you buy stay on your account until you use them. You can buy multiple packs and they stack.
What happens to my resume data?
Your data stays tied to your account, encrypted at rest, and is never shared or sold. We use it only to power the features you trigger (parsing, matching, generating). See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I edit a generated resume before downloading?
Yes. After Skillarq generates a draft, you can open it in edit mode, tweak the wording, reorder sections, and then download as PDF. The original generated draft stays in your Resumes list either way.
What about academic CVs?
When you build a resume you can choose “Resume” or “CV”, and pick a template that fits the format — including academic and research CV layouts with publications and grants sections.
Why do my counts on the dashboard look different from a section page?
Skillarq quietly merges duplicate skills (same name, same category) the first time you visit the Skills page. If your dashboard count looks one or two higher than the Skills page right after an upload, that's why — refresh the dashboard and it'll line up.
Do I need the Chrome extension?
No, it's optional. The extension lets you send a job posting from any job board to Skillarq with one click instead of copying and pasting the text yourself. You can do everything from inside Skillarq without installing it.
Why does the AI reflection sometimes say “Generating reflection…” for a while?
The AI assessment runs against your full career database, which can take 20–60 seconds the first time. Subsequent visits are nearly instant because we cache the result. If it sits for more than a minute, refresh the page — the request will retry.
